For more than 20 years, Carol Wan has been working with students on meeting their education goals. Born and raised in the Boston area, Ms. Wan is a graduate of Tufts University and Teachers College, Columbia University. She holds Massachusetts state licensure in high school guidance counseling and has served as a volunteer guidance counselor in both Quincy and Malden, MA, where she worked specifically with students on their college applications and essays. Other career highlights include working as an ESL teacher in Hong Kong through the Princeton-in-Asia teaching fellowship, teaching writing skills to fellow graduate students at Columbia University, and creating a college access program for youth from low income families at the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center. This college access program consisted of campus tours, informational workshops, financial aid assistance, and college essay writing help. Personally, Ms. Wan knows how important these essays can be. An honor student at Westwood High School and first generation college student, she believes that her college essays got her into her reach school – Tufts! Having been trained in counseling psychology while in graduate school, Ms. Wan is also able to offer career interests testing for students that might be unsure of what they want to study in college. Knowing clearly what your interests and needs are will make for a more successful match between student and college. While supportive of students getting into their dream schools, Ms. Wan’s primary focus is on finding the best fit for her students. Ms. Wan is a member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association.
